World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% increase over the last finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various tongues.
