19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

The win also means he has won 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
