A man who spiked sweets with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant played a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his stepchild had concerns about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the man proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member called the authorities a second time.
She stated the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
